How we handle your data

Last updated 7 November 2026

1. Who we are

PulseFitness is the controller of the personal data described in this policy. This policy explains what we collect, why we collect it, and the choices you have.

2. What we collect

Account details: your name and email address, and a hashed password or single sign-on identifier.

Profile and health details you enter: age, sex, height, body weight, unit preference, goal, activity level and training preferences.

Activity you log: workouts, exercises, sets, weights, macro entries, body weight entries, recipes opened, and runs including distance, duration, pace and saved GPS route points.

Community activity: forum posts and replies, likes, cheers, comments, friends and leaderboard position.

Technical data needed to run the app securely, such as session information and error logs.

3. Photos and the physique scan

The Physique Scan runs entirely on your device using an on-device model. The photo you choose is analysed in your browser and is not uploaded to our servers. Only the written analysis stays on your device.

4. Location data

Pulse Run uses your device location only while you are recording a run. If you save the run, the route points are stored with it so you can see your route and share it. If you discard the run, the route is not kept.

5. How we use your data

To deliver the app: building your plan, calculating calorie and macro targets, tracking progress, streaks, badges and points, and showing your runs, forum and leaderboard.

To operate the community: showing your posts, replies, shared runs and leaderboard position to other members.

To keep the service safe and working: preventing abuse, debugging errors, and improving features.

6. Our legal bases

Under UK data protection law we rely on: performance of our contract with you (running the app), legitimate interests (keeping the service secure and improving it), and consent where we ask for it, such as device location for run tracking. You can withdraw consent at any time.

7. Who can see your data

Your profile, logs, weight history, plans and progress are visible only to you. Content you choose to publish, such as forum posts, replies, cheers, likes and runs you share, is visible to other members of the app.

We use service providers for hosting, storage and payments. They process data on our behalf and may not use it for their own purposes. We do not sell your personal data.

8. Storage and security

Your data is stored on servers provided by our platform provider with encryption in transit, access controls and per-record permissions that restrict data to its owner. No system is perfectly secure, so please use a strong, unique password.

9. Retention and deleting your account

We keep your data while your account is active. When you delete your account from the Account screen, a request is sent to our servers that permanently deletes your profile and the records you created, including your plan, workouts, macro entries, body weight entries, runs, comments, posts, replies, likes and notifications. Deletion happens immediately and cannot be undone.

A small amount of technical log data may persist for a limited period for security and troubleshooting.

10. Your rights

You have the right to access your data, correct it, delete it, restrict or object to certain processing, and receive a portable copy. Most of this you can do directly in the app, and deleting your account erases your records.

You also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office (ico.org.uk) if you are unhappy with how we handle your data.

11. Children

PulseFitness is for people aged 16 and over. We do not knowingly collect data from anyone younger.

12. Contact

For any privacy question or request, contact us through the Contact page in the app.
